No news is news

Well I didn't get either of the jobs - and am feeling a little disappointed as I really need the money...

There were excellent reasons why I didn't get the jobs and I fully understand them all but am still disappointed.

And the lack of any concrete future in Special Collections... I'd really like to know what is going to happen otherwise how am I going to plan moving in to a new flat...

Because if I haven't mentioned it before Dad sold the house and has put a conditional offer down on a 2 bdrm flat - so I need to move my stuff out and up to Auckland...

So I need money and if there is no work in SpC I cannot really afford to move, especially on a lib ass salary. Although maybe after the wage increase next year but that is not till Spetember... I can't wait that long...

Paul has said I can share his storage and has also offered to go flatting together... which would save me having to come up with bond, although I do still have the bond for this place waiting somewhere...
And Dad has said he can give me a little loan if I need it... once he sells the house anyway as he should have some money over... enough for bond anyway.

Oh well - i'm going to get an early night... hopefully...
But first I am going to check my budget (if my hotsync ever finishes) and see if I can afford to upgrade to a 6GB broadband plan... because 3GB isn't actually doing it for me. I am already within 70MB of the limit and it is only the 21st - I still have a week and half to go...

Damn you You Tube... I'll get you for this!

Especially for this

PS: Xmas is going to be interesting - I have to put a plan to B&S... and ask S&D if that's ok... Because I will definitely be staying in Auckland for Xmas this year.

Just a little play with my new broadband

I was checking out YouTube, after a friend sent me a funny sketch featuring David Tennant and the girl from the bride episode. After watching that I found the first Doctor Who episode of season 3 "The bride?" which I had missed and watched it. I then started playing around watching some of the home-mades by YouTubers... and I found these ones which I really like. I love the songs too.

Interviews, tiredness and doors

Arghh... well i was going to prepare for my job interview over the weekend but my internal door jammed late saturday night and it took most of sunday to get it undone.. although I will admit that Paul and Arwen came over to visit in the morning...

I'm still doing crappy things with my sleep and my dietary intake...

My interview was pretty sucky today... I know I could have done better, but I was so tired and I didn't give too much of a damn... I know which bit of the job I want but whether it gets offerred to me is another matter -
If M only comes back part time - I can do my dream job of half and half Special Collections and ARC...

I remembered over the weekend that I am supposed to voice (out loud) those dreams that I want to happen and it may help... At least it will clarify exactly what I want to me and I can then decide if I truly want to go ahead in this department, job, flat etc...

SO...

I want to work half the time in Special Collections and half the time in the ARC... Doing more important and satisfying work than just a library assistant's job... I love the manuscripts assistant librarian job and it is so very interesting and fulfilling - I love the people I work with and I feel that they like me too (at least a little - except when I am being too weird for words)...

Now speaking of tiredness I am going to bed - after a great big glass of water... or milk... haven't decided yet.

Night night one and all...

The boring bits in between

Helen’s Blog of Life - and all the boring bits in between…

I decided half way thorugh 2007 to actually blog my boring bits...

That seemed to have lasted for a day or so... and now I am going to try again...

I have another blog started through work and Library 2.0... a bit of a crock... but never mind I'm sure that I'll keep up with on or other of these...

Monday 4 June 2007 (Queens Birthday)

10.05am – The phone rings and Paul and Arwen are outside ready to visit. So much for getting up early and actually getting anything useful done today. Not that I really felt up to anything like that anyway.
Played with Arwen and Paul played on the computer for the next hour and a half.

11.35am - P & A left and I played on the computer while the cotton gloves from work I had brought home were being battered by the heavy duty wash cycle of the washing machine.
After Paul came back to pick up Arwen’s bottle, I finished some more channel surfing and buying DVD’s and then popped the gloves out on the line on the porch to dry. I then decided to watch some DVD’s I had gotten out from work.
I watched:

Fun with Dick and Jane – light hearted with some funny moments (+ some nice social commentary on big-corporate America)

Holes – Feel good movie based on children’s book I haven’t read.

The Manchurian Candidate – Not up to Denzel Washington’s usual standard, but an ok watch (+ some more social commentary on big-corporate America).

Am just finishing up some work on the computer before I go to bed, perchance to sleep (and dream), and then get up tomorrow morning for work. And I just have to say a big yay and thank all the gods I didn’t have to work on Monday (because Monday = late night and a full day in the research centre).

Sunday 3 June 2007

12.15pm - Well I got on the bus at Wanganui and we had a nice new one again… so that was good except for that new bus smell. We stopped at the Raukawa Falls café for lunch because the café in Raetihi doesn’t open on Sundays. Who knew? Nice scenery and while we were there we saw a cavalcade of vintage cars going past. Some nice golden oldies and some newer, “1970s” newer, minis and things as well. So not so much vintage, I’ll say classic instead.

Weather was a bit all over the place on the way up and Ruapehu was hiding behind some clouds, so no pretty views there. We got to Auckland at 8.05, which would have been great if there were any buses going my way at that time, but no, so I had to wait till 8.50pm for the next bus going to Blockhouse Bay.

Got home late and then after surfing the web and checking my email I decided to throw up for a bit… I didn’t mean to but hey there you go – the body knows what it wants and what it doesn’t want inside of it.

Got to bed finally and then sleep for most of the night through.

This was the little bit of hell and damn, it was a lot...
